SHABZ FINDING HER PATH IN LA TEXT

Dear Ephemeral Community

I am having a pretty amazing time here, and as is often the case in my life...things come together organically and intuitively...slowly but surely...I haven't got all the answers, but I am getting there. You see this research and development is very personal and a soul search...By the end of it, I am truly reserached for the next 10 years, as the main problem is that there is too much. So as per my dearest Franko's advice and per your support, I have been cutting out the superfluous and filing it. I have also been researching post grad courses in Performance and Visual Culture not as a deterrant to making work but to empower myself with the knowledge in the new field which I am entering, and also for new survival strategies...with a post grad, I could teach...Talking to Jennifer who is the beautiful lady with long hair on blog site, I have enough experience to be teaching theatre...She teaches at UCLA...so I have been researching courses in LA and NYC...it's all research...Jennifer is amazing and a good freind of Ron Athey and Franko who writes amazingly about their work. The other woman, who is equally gorgeous with short black hair in the car, is my old freind Tag from when I was 14, who is a fantastic photographer and visual artist and pre-occupied with the same themes and issues as me, and goes to Iran every year...she has been amazing referring me to work and literature...check her website www.parisatag.com... I have been doing creative consultancy with her and my cousin who is a producer, and getting the feed back of Iranian women to what I am trying to do...The guy with me is a well known Iranian presenter and actor who broadcasts live to Iranians globally, and whose son was killed due to his political activities...Though I don't agree with everyone's politics, I am against censorship and for freedom of speech and tolerance of diversity...I have been interviewing many immigrants, and really getting into my video camera, and remembering Katherine's playfulness and approach...

The final image of the books are the Iranian yellow pages here which is amazing as I have never seen anything like this in London...

Today I go to Palm Springs to see Ron Athey who is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, who is going to, as he put it: 'comb through it and help me with new strategies'...I am so lucky to have your all, and blessed by Franko, Ron, Guillermo and you guys...

So much more to say but got some interviews and then catching the elusive train to the desert..........

Oh by the way, I was detained by police at airport for 2 hours with lots of other brown people...Even though I have a British passport, it says place of birth Tehran-Iran....The police officers who were all brown and black..or other grilled me on when I had been to Iran, who I had left with, why I was travelling back on Sep 11th...and much much more...

Keep you posted

Love you all

Shabby Dabby...
