Opportunities
Commissioning opportunity for live and performance artists.
Fierce! Festival's Youth Panel is looking to commission an artist or artist group to make a new performance work for the 10th festival in May/June 2007.
A total fee of £2000 is available inclusive of travel, accommodation and production costs.
Fierce! Festival is an annual event, commissioning and presenting the area of artistic practice referred to as 'live art'. However, we also regularly present theatre, contemporary dance, new music, contemporary visual arts and digital arts projects. We have a commitment to and a tradition of exposing audiences to international work and site specific work. Fierce! delivers year-round education work in formal and informal settings.
The Youth Panel is a group of twenty young people from four secondary schools in Birmingham. Over the past 18 months the Youth Panel has visited many contemporary arts organisations across Birmingham and experienced first-hand what each has to offer. By attending performances, talks, exhibitions, restaurants (within the
organisations) the young people have gained the knowledge in order to inform their peers, families and teachers about what is happening in the City, in turn developing new audiences for the arts.
As part of their development the Youth Panel will this year be commissioning an artist/artist group to make a new piece of performance-based work for Fierce!
Festival. They will be involved in the selection of the artist/artist group through shortlist and interview, marketing and producing the work, along with documenting and evaluating the event.
Please note that as this work will be commissioned by young people is necessary that the content be suitable for secondary school-aged pupils.
The programme is funded by Creative Partnerships and managed by Fierce! Festival.
To apply please send a proposal, a budget outline, a recent CV and documentation of your work by Monday 8 January 2007 to:
