Shabz in LA

Dear Guys

Thank you for a challenging and amazing week at Wysing. Out of restraint growth is assured. Been in LA for a week (still as part of my research and development) reunting with family, connecting with old freinds, getting to know myself better and doing a lot of video work, and really thinking about new strategies. Also getting to know the arts scene. Sorry for the delay and distance. Need this retreat in the sun to keep what's necessary, and pack away the superfluous. I have a lot of things which I want to share with you: people, images, moments, but I am on my way to interview a guy who I haven't seen since I was 14, whose son was murdered, and have 15 minutes before we go. Just thought to drop you a quick line. Catch up later. Love you all.

Shabba

This is where i will be curating a video show...Outsider Video...in November 2006...ooooh.....you know it will be camp.....Hopefully the tulips will be long dead.....

lentils!!!

Hi,
It's taken me a while to figure this thing out, thanks for your advice Lucille:) Well back in the outside world and really wish I wasn't. Wysing was a fantastic opportunity. It was great getting to know everyone better and their practice. Can't wait to meet up again. I too have been cooking quinoa! I went camping at the weekend and have managed to convert the whole campsite to the tiny frogspawn pellets.
Maddie, I cooked lentil bake ! and it was a success.
I'm off to Camden arts centre tonight for a lecture and tour of their bee sculpturte, thanks maddie for keeping me posted. If anyone woiuld like to join me ?
I've just put something in for a n exhib at the Residence gallery for their 1 year birhtday celebration. The exhib is on sat , with a party afterwards. I'll post the details soon.
Not sure how to upload photos, but I will try and find out........
Missing everyone ,

Open Submission Call for video artists

12th International Non Grata Film and Video Festival - Open Submission

We are looking for works to be part of the British section of the 2006 Non Grata Film and Video Festival, which takes place in Parnu, Estonia, 11th and 12th of November 2006.

Non Grata are a group of 40 performance and video artists from Estonia. For over 15 years, they have been active in the international art scene as well as running their own art school. Artists from Canada, France, Estonia, Finland, Germany, UK and South Korea will be represented.

The theme this year is 'Pain in the Class', which relates to ideas and issues surrounding privileged access (e.g. to food, influence, information, credit, medicine, DNA etc.). In certain cases these are emergent issues in recently ex-communist Estonia. All interpretations on this theme are welcomed.

Eligibility: Any connection to the UK what so ever. (Including illegal immigrants, terrorists, members of the aristocracy and corporate elite.)

Please e-mail Orion Maxted for application details:

Thank you

(OK, so I am totally lost with this blog, but I am hoping something of all my sessions ramblings will appear at some point.)

Thank you to everyone for last week. It felt and still does feel like an important week, and people's generosity and understanding was very much appreciated, even though at times I guess i didn't realise it until afterwards.

There is so much I'd liek to talk about, things that have popped into my head since and things that just didn't get said in teh week because time ran out.

I hope everyone is well, surviving now back in reality.

With love, Katherine.

Missing the mornings!!! I have been making porridge!! Also went straight to my local shop and bought quinoa. Conditioned or what!!!

Just about got the sleep pattern back to 8 hours. Everybody here keeps asking me how it went. I have been using words like challenging, exciting, shaking things up and change. Oh, and the fun, what fun we had with pastels .... i am never going to look at graffiti in the same way again

Steven

oh the joy!

Thanks Madeline, I can get on now as well! didn't have a clue before how to use this thing.
So apparently life on the outside of Wysing sucks big time! I've had the crapest week, if god had decided to design me a worse one he wouldn't have been able to.
Or maybe all this is just normal and last week was exceptional. anyway, i'm missing the laughs (so much laughter!) and the delicious food and the excellent company, I'm even missing the early mornings!
big love to you all

Obscene Cup Cakes

Here are a few of those sweet morcels of obscenity....The shape and taste, the sweetness undercut with sharpness...

Life on the outside

So, it is Thursday already, and I look back at wysing and think how much we did in that week, and what nice memories I have.
Thank you to you all for being such darn fine company, and for being so generous in all things obscene. It was great to get to know you and your work better. Here's raising a glass to more of that. And laughing; how much did I laugh last week?! Such a lot! Wonderful sauciness, creativity and fresh air; hard to beat.

I didn't take photos, but thanks to those of you who did; I'd love any photos you may have, and kind of especially ones of my performance (for documentation), but really any photos of that lovely week.

Great pics. happy memories... Will try and get some of my pics on here soon - I'm a blog virgin so be patient. In fact it took me a while to realise that you need to go to Blogger.com and log in if you want to do more than post a comment in response, right? Just thought I'd point that out for any other white dress blog users, my dress is now slightly muddy. Also there is a team list function in the settings, can we have our user names in there? And am I right that the old forum has been deleted? I can't access it, it would be nice if we had a record of it though.
